As of today only financial members can add or edit dogs into our database.

This fee has been introduced to stop members from entering their website address on our Pedigree pages. These entries are asking for donations on 200 or 300 dogs pedigrees and they are pretending they have homed all these dogs. This is a scam and takes the team literally hours/days to delete.

Another issue is the antis entering false information and comments that are not appropriate on a greyhound website.

We are also having problems with members entering abusive information about dogs for sale, i.e. "the owner is an Axxxxole etc. This trend has been growing rapidly so we decided to take a stand and try to keep our records accurate as well as reduce the workload for our voluntary workers.

You can be a financial member for 18, $30 or 25 euro per year.

If you need to edit your dogs and find this a problem please email [email protected] and let us know what changes you would like made and we will do this for you. Also if you belong to an adoption group and find this fee difficult please email us and we will certainly work out a solution for you.

It really is a shame it has come to this point but at least now we will know exactly who the trouble makers are and will be able to remove them from this website.

Hi Stephen, we are not trying to penalise people such as yourself but have had to do something to try to prevent/reduce the abuse of the current system.

Simply banning the person does not work as these serial troublemakers get back on by using a friends ID.

Our team do a fantastic job and the people making false entries are wasting massive amounts of their time. When you then add to this comments by antis and abusive comments by people who have had run ins with someone selling a dog it becomes a huge problem to deal with which is not fair on the our team.

Hi Paul, they have and we ban them when they do the wrong thing. The problem is they simply come back on under a friends name and ID.

Making members pay might stop the trouble makers (although it might not) but it also penalises those members who have supported the forum over many years and that cannot be right.

It seems that it's all about money these days.

Hi Maureen, If any verified member would like their dog added or edited they just have to email [email protected] and it will be checked against the relevant greyhound organisation and then entered free of charge.

This should keep all records accurate which will be a massive benefit to our members.

Supported the forum? Who cares. This is my first ever post on a forum and I'm a full paying member on this site for close to 12 months. Support the website and donate money for membership.

Hi Yvonne, when Jason and I purchased Greyhound-Data we bought it "as is" and paid accordingly.

When we introduced paid membership we as a gesture of good will asked the previous owner for a list of people that had been the main contributors over the 10 years the website had been running. Off memory there were approx. 160 members on this list. We made these members "Special Gold Members for life" as a way of thanking them for their hard work.

Unfortunately your name was not on this list. There may well be others also that have been overlooked and we invite all concerned to contact us by emailing [email protected] so that we can rectify this situation.

All due respect Yvonne, but you have done extremely well over the last 15 years - free of charge. I'd be a very happy customer if I were you.

Personally....I don't have a problem with this announcement.

If its going to STOP the antis from editing Pedigrees & adding abusive messages etc, well in my opinion it's a small fee to paid for perfection.

I actually believe those annual fee's mentioned are cheap...for the service we get in return.

If it helps assist keeping this website SAFE & ERROR-FREE, I'm all for it.

With all due respect one could just as easily argue the case the other way round, people like Yvonne and myself (to a lesser degree) have pumped in goodness knows how much data (and not just about our own animals) free and gratis

Paul please tell me where Greyhound Data has not been accepting of the contribution all of the Members have made over the years and you definitely do not stand alone with DATA added to DATA .
SPAMMING it cost time and money to remove this every day every hour .
Greyhound Data now automatically download data from outside sources to gather the latest race and breeding information for us all to use .

Just imagine a data system so big it cost you 10's of thousands of $$$ every year to keep up and running .

Now if no money is generated and the DATA GETTING LOGGED into Greyhound Data is SPAM AND OTHER FALSE AND MISLEADING DATA and it takes many hours of work to remove every day then what Tony has suggested will fix many of the issues Greyhound Data is faced with today .

What if i told Greyhound Data was to DISAPPEAR or go Bankrupt then what would you be saying if you never had these services again ..
I think $50 a year would more than cover all of the expenses Greyhound Data amasses every Year so $25 is a very small fee for such a great value site .

For "tens of thousands" I'd hire a software company that could fathom out how to delete personal messages - just saying like

Also, who says that charging a fee totally deters idiots and antis

An English man and an Irish man are driving head on , at night, on a twisty, dark road. Both are driving too fast for the conditions and collide on a sharp bend in the road. To the amazement of both, they are unscathed, though their cars are both destroyed. In celebration of their luck, both agree to put aside their dislike for the other from that moment on. At this point, the Englishman goes to the boot and fetches a 12 year old bottle of whisky. He hands the bottle to the Irish man, whom exclaims,'' may the Irish and the English live together forever, in peace, and harmony.'' The Irish man then tips the bottle and gulps half of the bottle down. Still flabbergasted over the whole thing, he goes to hand the bottle to the Englishman, whom replies: '' no thanks, I'll just wait till the Police get here!''
