Hi Stephen, we are not trying to penalise people such as yourself but have had to do something to try to prevent/reduce the abuse of the current system.

Simply banning the person does not work as these serial troublemakers get back on by using a friends ID.

Our team do a fantastic job and the people making false entries are wasting massive amounts of their time. When you then add to this comments by antis and abusive comments by people who have had run ins with someone selling a dog it becomes a huge problem to deal with which is not fair on the our team.

Hi Tony,
I do see where you are coming from, but this new approach that you have taken is not the right one in my opinion.

If someone is misbehaving, take their posting and editing rights away from them. If, as they say, the people are coming in under their friends accounts, take the editing rights off theirs also.

But don't take the editing rights off the members that are updating the system out of their own time.

Thanks for the input Jim. We've tried your examples for years but it hasn't stopped the abuse. We have no alternative but to incorporate these fees to keep the site secure.

Hi Jim, this is what we have been doing and it simply is not working anymore.

If someone is out to cause mischief after been banned with the new system they will have to use a friends name, verify with his ID as per in the past but the difference is they will have to use his friends credit card or Paypal account.

The website has really been coming under attack in recent times and we have had to react to it.

If any verified member wants his dog added or edited to the website they only have to email [email protected] and we will gladly do this for them.

When Jason and I purchased Greyhound-Data we bought it "as is" and paid accordingly.

When we introduced paid membership we as a gesture of good will asked the previous owner for a list of people that had been the main contributors over the 10 years the website had been running. Off memory there were approx. 160 members on this list. We made these members "Special Gold Members for life" as a way of thanking them for their hard work.

Unfortunately your name was not on this list. There may well be others also that have been overlooked and we invite all concerned to contact us by emailing [email protected] so that we can rectify this situation.

Thankyou Tony

I go out take these photos then load them on.....they are my photos I dont steal them for free and i give them to everyone to enjoy

Would it not be possible to let people edit their own dogs ?

Fear this new block will kill GD and that would be a shame.

Tony's made it perfectly clear. The reason for the FEE is simple. To stop pedigree SABOTAGE by the ANTI'S. I gather it's become very time consuming and EXPENSIVE.

I believe as it stands now, the ANTI'S can do what ever they like. By introducing an UP FRONT SIGN ON FEE, it'll cost them $$$$ for their offences. You don't have to be EINSTEIN to work that one out.

If you don't want to support G-Data's stance against continued pedigree vandalism, then go back to the prehistoric ages of "PEN & PAPER".

The FEATURES this site OFFERS regarding pedigrees would cost each individual hundreds of dollars for a similar program. THEN every year you would have to update your DATABASE by 25,000 puppies, WORLDWIDE....Something I personally don't want to do.

All I can say is if you can't afford $20 bucks to support this website by updating your own personally agenda, you must be pretty tight.

The range of information on the site will drop by a good margin as not many will post now.

At the moment the website is being financed by advertising and financial members.

If this falls away or we continue to allow our database to be corrupted no one will post here as the website will be gone.

Now is the time to unite behind Greyhound-Data. The sport we love and the website we love is under attack and we need to take a stand.

Thank you for your support to all our financial members and to all that understand what we are trying to achieve and have recently become financial members.

I think it's time that those that aren't financial on data (as a member at any level) seriously consider now doing so.

I haven't been but I couldn't imagine this terrific pedigree site being adversely corrupted and/or failing to be.........so I will be paying up for a gold membership in the coming week.

If you aren't a member.........become 1x.........keep the site alive.

I think it's ar$e about face that one has to pay to update somebody else's data (I.e. Their product , in this case their business)

Yet conversely you can advertise greyhounds for sale and products and services for free and gratis

It really should be the other way around
