Grey Aid is an initiative set up by Greyhound-Data with the support of GRV (Greyhound Racing Victoria) and other Australian based greyhound racing clubs and participants.

We are having a worldwide PUSH to raise much needed FUNDS to be distributed thought Australia to greyhound participants that have been directly impacted by the recent Australian Bush Fire disaster. These funds will also be made available to any persons affected by the fires that have a GAP dog or any greyhound adopted via a recognized greyhound adoption agency.

It is time to rebuid so please time dig deep and help our treasured greys.

A committee has been set up to oversee this project and to approve and distribute funds in real time when they are needed most.
Donations of leads, rugs, beds, walking machines, trailers etc will also be accepted, you can contact [email protected] regarding such donations as to where they can be dropped off or mailed to in order for such items to be appropriately distributed to those in need.

Thank you everyone for helping all Australian Greyhounds in their time of need.

The devastation we are currently going through is uniting us as a nation and with your help and determination we can unite worldwide as greyhound owners.

Absolutely brilliant to read this and thank you Tony and your team for getting behind it.

Hats off to GRV and the Australian clubs too for their support and encouragement.
It's hoped that every single club can contribute in some way to ease the pain of these people and their dogs.
I've heard some gut wrenching and heart breaking stories of loss and agony and although the worldwide outpouring of support is fantastic, these Greyhound people need specific help in areas Tony has mentioned, and more.

Richard Gray is a legend who has done a mountain of organizing to make this a reality.
You have a heart of gold, mate.

I hope everyone gets behind it and give what you can because if I was one of these people I'd be a broken man.

just some of the great comments left of the go fund me page.

In memory of my own awesome retired racing greyhound named Wanneroo, after the city. Watch over them gentle giant, that none will be left behind

I'm saddened by the devestation that is occurring in Australia. As a fellow greyhound owner I wish you all safety and hope you and your hounds can return home soon.

I have donated to several other funds for the wildlife. As a Greyhound owner I can not imagine the toll this has taken on all and hope this can help in some small way bring life back to normal for those affected.

The animals are innocent, they need our help as do the humans that help those in need

My greyhounds and I are praying for Australia!

I am a greyhound lover.I have 2 myself.I cant even imagine what they are going through.

Yes Rich, those comments are from the heart and they understand the trauma some folks in Oz have gone through.

Today I spoke to Peter from the Sale Club and they housed over 50 Greyhounds for over two weeks!
They are doing fantastic things there to support the people affected.
Just in their immediate area FOUR trainers were hugely affected, so how many more, who knows.
I have advised Peter should they need help we are here for them.

The more money we raise the more we can give to the many caught up in this disaster.

So please people, I know times are tough but there are some fair dinkum Aussies doing it much tougher.
It doesn't matter how little you give because it all adds up.

Just so you are at ease with this, every single cent will be accounted for.

Give a little please, it'll make you feel good, I promise.

Elizabeth Salmoni donated $50

I have seen firsthand in Nowra area the emotional damage the fires have caused trainers as they have battled to protect their every dog . The struggles of no power / no freezers / no meat deliveries are but a few of the daily issues. Thanks to NSW Greyhound Racing who have helped out immensely in so many ways to make life easier for the trainers in that area. I would hope that all trainers in unaffected areas could donate to help our colleagues in need. We all have the same goal of keeping our dogs first and foremost so please help.

While this money won't go to the fund G-D set up it will go to help animals in Australia and that is what's important.

Although the picture is still unclear, it now seems the estimate of around 50 trainers in Vic, NSW, and SA have been directly affected and maybe more.
That does not include Tas, WA, Qld.

I keep hearing stories and the last one of total loss is heartbreaking.
I can't go into detail but even the most hardened would feel their pain.

The reality is it is not over yet as fires still burn even after a little rain and can threaten again.

If you are affected please reach out to us.
It's just a mate helping a mate, ok?
If you wish to remain anonymous to the public it's OK.
I can understand why some don't want to talk about it and relive it.

Give them strength.

Am I the only one surprised there is less than $5,000 raised in a week? I see there were over 250 shares.

Hopefully, a number of people had already given on other sites.

Hi Dick,
No, I don't think you are the only one because I certainly am.
I have a feeling that people may think with all the millions being raised and donated all victim's needs are going to be covered.
Unfortunately that is not the case with us who need to build and provide for "nonessential" Greyhound needs.
They will not disperse funds for these.
That's why it's so important to offer them help.

There are quite a few bigger things happening to bolster this but the wheels turn painfully slow.

In the meantime, let's hope that people realize that there are people who are hurting emotionally, physically, and financially and they give what they can.

Cheers.

Hi folks.

Just an update into how things are going.

We have reached out to people through email offering help to the ones that have been affected.
We are in the middle of helping people who have replied.
Some of the situations really do have you thinking how lucky we are not to have experienced what they have.

If there are some people out there reading this and need help but are to proud to ask, please put that aside and contact us.
We are family, so talk to us.
There are funds there that can help you in some way.

GOOD NEWS...
The Hobart Greyhound Racing Club is holding a fundraising night on the 27th of February.
They intend to donate all funds raised to two people who have been devastated by the fires in SA and NSW.
If you are in Tassie, please give them your support.
They have a stack of prizes to be auctioned off and promise a great night of entertainment.
I think this club deserves a standing ovation!
They have watched the disaster unfold and been moved and want to help industry participants.
I think it's a fantastic gesture and one I hope other clubs around the country do as well.

HOBART GREYHOUND RACING CLUB BUSH FIRE APPEAL NIGHT
Ladbrokes Elwick Park
Gates open 6.15 pm.
ALL WELCOME!
All Firies in for free!

Kev,
Would you be able to put this notice for the Hobart Club up on Data's f/ b page please?

Cheers.

I donated to this about six weeks ago. My friend that told me about it and collected the money knows the teacher in this article. The first part of the article is about the school making things for the animals of Australia. They were really looking for people to donate old yarn they had kicking around their house left over from things people knitted. I didn't have yarn so I donated some money.

Kev,

I think it's fantastic that Hobart have decided to help INDUSTRY participants in dire need of help.
I'm sure there are millions being raised for all fire victims in Tassie.
However, Greyhound people have special needs that unfortunately aren't considered "essentials" by the major charities.

It's not too late for any club to join forces with GREY-AID and get the help to these people.
They will also have ample opportunity to donate to our upcoming auction, even if its a bundle of trials others can bid on.

In the mean time, Hobart Greyhound Club lead by example and they really deserve a huge success on the 27th.
Absolute legends!

PLEASE TAKE 2 SECONDS TO SHARE THEIR POSTER ON F/B.
