In vic the lazt registered (grv) owner is responsible for the dog if it is not retired thru gap. You need a lot of faith in your fellow humans to really look after your ex racer for the rest of its life. Joe public has a poor record of looking after any pet. Im not sure i could trust them to look after my ex racers. GRV can be very pedantic

If that's the case in Victoria it's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of !

This sounds promising

The article says thousands, if that's the case then that is a very positive solution.

Hopefully it won't be a prohibitive cost to the participant to engage in the program

I am sure that there are plenty of other like-minded countries around the world that will also take our greyhounds as pets

Good work GRNSW

when will vic take a look at this, long waiting list to even be tested here in vic,i believe it is due to gap being full.

This overseas rehoming programme should have been co-ordinated Australia-wide by Greyhounds Australasia not by each individual State

It really is obvious that they are not proactive in their dealings of the large issues affecting the sport

Local farmer Ishbell Collins said the sale was "fantastic news".

"[We] were under a lot of stress about having up to 400 dogs up there barking and whatnot," she said.

The place is in the middle of No-Where, for gods sake

When living in Victoria a trainer was intending on buying a property down the road from me subject to council approval, he had a meeting with council and concerned locals. The lady directly across the road from me was the catalyst for him pulling the pin with a comment along the line of "it's your kids I feel sorry for, getting teased at school for ruining our neighbourhood". I had to listen to her 15 cattle dogs chained up to a 44 gallon drum 24/7 go off every time someone left or entered there property.

GAP in TAS not making much progress at the moment. I'm unable to breed a litter even if I wanted to.
