**Newsflash** We are delighted to announce that Howard Wallace and Francis Murray have agreed to sponsor the Longford Derby again in June. Howard and Francis are great supporters of the track. Not only are they sponsoring again but they are upping the prize fund! The winner will now receive 8000 up from 5000. What a great boost for Longford's flagship event :)

A huge boost for owners/trainers at a time when we need it most. Very generous sponsors. Thank you.

Keep Longford Racing Fund

Longford Track Committee and the Track Supporters Club have set up a Keep Longford Racing Fund to guarantee the future sustainability of the Track.

The target is 25,000 which is the nett annual cost of operating the track.

We are asking all those who have an interest in Longford Greyhound Stadium and racing in general to contribute a payment of 200 to the Fund. We are appealing to people countrywide to show support, be it owners, trainers, feed suppliers, stud keepers, vets and others who are part of the greyhound industry.

200 may sound like a lot. but it

= cost of a trial per week
or
= one race win per year.

A small price to pay for the continuation of racing at your track!

To start the ball rolling, all members of the Track Committee and the Track Supporters Club Committee have pledged to contribute 200 each to the fund. The fund will be administered by a member of the Track Committee and a member of the Track Supporters Club. Annual accounts will be produced and forwarded to each contributors email (or as otherwise agreed for those without email addresses).

Payments can be made into the Keep Longford Racing Fund to the Bank account number 39046196, Sort code 90-17-73. The IBAN is IE30 BOFI 9017-7339-0461-96 and the BIC is BOFIIE2D.

Payments can be made either monthly (@ 20/month for 10 months) or preferably in one payment.

Cheques can be made payable to Keep Longford Racing Fund. Please send cheques to Keep Longford Racing c/o Fund Administrators, Longford Greyhound Stadium, Park Road, Longford.

Receipts will be issued for all payments. To reduce administration costs especially printing & postage we would ask that subscribers forward their email addresses to Joe ORourke.

For further information about the Keep Longford Racing Fund contact Joe ORourke on 087 9088555 or email [email protected]

We all need to pull together to make this a success and guarantee the future of racing at our track.

A good idea. Better to be pro-active in securing the tracks future.

I suggest a list of all subscribers be on display in the weigh room for everyone to see. By doing this the manager can see who has donated and who deserves to be running in valuable stakes. Hopefully everyone will dig deep. Good luck!

I wish we could have saved Hx or Wimbledon by paying 200 each. Longford has one of the best running surfaces in Ireland. It must not be lost to our industry.

Its now or never !
We hope to put a deadline of August for the collection of the money.
If we don't reach our target of 25,000 we will be refunding the money donated to each person.
Its all or nothing...

The deadline for our fundraising drive is August 4th. Money is coming in steadily at the moment but we need to up the ante if we are to reach our goal of 25,000. Could those who have pledged to donate please forward the funds asap. Its easy to forget in our busy lives. Spread the word to those who have an interest in racing. Longford is a great track and it would be a shame to lose it. Thanks to all those who have already contributed.
