Sorry to hear about the sudden demise of Drumbo Park. However, It is reassuring
to see your positive attitude in the face of adversity. Just a thought
which may be pie in the sky. Do you or any of the committee have any
liaison with the recent Moira Lottery winner? I understood from
their recent media presentation that they would consider giving consideration to helping local projects which needed assistance. Its worth an approach in the circumstances.
You are not going to get any IGB assistance. The Grim Reaper has spoken. His crocodile tears on "Talking Dogs" doesn't cut any ice.
I assumed that there would be an emergency fund from the sale of HX
or the recent government allocation of 16 million to address a situation like this. There is no consideration for the plight of Northern Greyhound owners who have loyally supported the Board this
last century. Greyhound racing started in Ireland in 1927 at Celtic Park,
Belfast before Shelbourne or many of the English tracks were heard of. Unfortunately the IGB has helped to put the final nail in the
coffin to end this era.

Would love to know how much money igb get from the North every year from registering litters, microchips, naming and so on. North still has to pay igb but don't get the surport

If Igb does not wanna support us and gbgb does not want too. It would be great if we had our own governing body who we pay our fees to and get support.

Drumbo Park had the busiest restaurant of any track in Ireland,
Was always top quality food( maybe this was a problem) quality costs.
Over staffing was a big issue in both restaurant and dog side!
Track I believe should be able to coup without funding from igb if managed correctly.
A little help from them would be to provide a racing manager and deputy Monday Friday Saturday, cards are made up in mulligar for several tracks at the moment, so dont need to be on site. Trial money should cover ground staff wages and more.
Hope its sorted soon as the longer this drags on the harder itll be to get going again.

Listened to the radio interview yesterday with Mr Mcadam with the wee wife beside, now she does take any interest in the dogs but was very quick to jump on something he used as an excuse, the world has moved on, online book making etc Well f###### move with the times and go online at Drumbo! Wifes words!
Drumbo one of first tracks to be offered bags in Ireland, but said no! Now look where we are, every other track in Ireland going bags.
He also mentioned lack of dogs as an excuse. Dogs are there !

Straight up it should in no way be in the interest of the igb to let this track close and the fact that they have is a big question mark over their vision and capability of bringing our sport forward the tracks that are in the North are needed and should in no way be neglected by our govern body

Statement from IGB on Talking Dogs offers no support...

IGB STATEMENT ON CLOSURE OF DRUMBO PARK
IGB

The IGB notes today's news that Drumbo Park Greyhound Stadium is to close with immediate effect.

IGB CEO Gerard Dollard commented today: "Drumbo Park falls outside the remit of the Irish Greyhound Board but we would be very aware of the excellent work done by all those at the track as part of the wider greyhound industry. The IGB is also very aware of the strong financial support Drumbo Park has received from its owners since its opening ten years ago.

There is a strong greyhound racing tradition in Northern Ireland, with many people directly and indirectly economically benefitting from the industry. It is sad to see the tracks closure in this way and the impact on both full and part time staff at the track, as well as the wider greyhound community."
