Greyhound Data is an invaluable site for all Greyhound Racing enthusiasts but recently there appears to be a big decline in posts from the UK.

Come on everyone lets get behind the site and start talking about all the fantastic things happening in UK Greyhound Racing !

I agree, it would be great to hear some positive things

All we ever seem to hear about are tracks being closed

I agree that Greyhound Data is invaluable as a site for looking at breeding and possible future matings and if you can post about just one of the fantastic things happening in UK greyhound racing perhaps people will respond.

I've been scratching my head trying to think of something but, after being involved in greyhound racing for over 40 years, I am struggling to think of anything positive about the sport today.

Sorry.

When people actually celebrate and cheer the closure of Towcester, which is what happened on a well known exchange forum in the UK, you do actually wonder about the future of the sport.

I think a forum needs people with different views to spark the debates and believe that interaction on the site reduced markedly when some members were banned from it.

Its been a long time since I posted anything, primarily because I moved back to U.K. and to my mind Data was always an Irish forum.
In my day there weren't that that many UK posters anyway and I think so many Irish posters were pissed off at the continual slagging of Igb by the 'stone throwers', remember them?
In my opinion Greyhoundscene are going the same way, but after my computer went Phat and I had to purchase a new one and the hassle of trying to get up-to-date, getting accepted again with new passwords, I am now a member here again and would like to hear from my old friends. please.

To Mark, Stephen, Maureen, Chris, John etc

I love this site - I love matching pedigrees - I love to identify litters to follow based on breeding - I did love to have banter on here too -

But - now here is where this could be my very last post as I have been threatened that if I mention this again I will be banned by the administrators.

There is a VERY BIG FLAW IN THE RATINGS !

It is absolutely OBVIOUS

Other people have pointed it out before and NOTHING has been done about it - in my humble opinion this fantastic website / public facility - is compromised by somebody or bodies with some sort of vested interest in keeping it as it is. Sorry to say this, but I cannot understand why they will not correct it!

So when I am looking at the offspring of a sire sorted by highest rating, I need to check every offspring to see at which track their high ratings were gained.

If these ratings were gained at a certain UK track, then I dismiss the rating completely because it is SKEWING the data - and data is what this site is all about - reliable, usable data - I just wish someone would put it right!

This is the REASON I GIVE as to why the majority of postings are now from the southern hemisphere and those from the UK have declined dramatically.

So I make a last plea to the administrators of this site - please readdress the ratings of S******** - to make the data on this site believable, and PLEASE PLEASE do not ban me !!!!!!!

Agree with all you have said Steve, but I think that it is the historic ratings that are so badly out and recent ratings are not too bad, maybe a fraction high but close enough. Have a look at the form of the fastest dogs from recent quarters

CLICK HERE
Admittedly not an exhaustive study

Though I have personally not had a threat, I believe it is the keenness of the administrators to ban that has reduced debate and your post is a good example of that as I don't recall seeing anything from yourself that should bring sanction

I've had many innocuous posts deleted for pathetic reasons on what should be an open forum that I rarely post now and have cancelled my annual subscription to Data, shame but they have some sad admins!
Example: i posted that I was amazed to see that there was a repeat mating litter from Droopys Danneel for sale on Data..The post was removed!!!

Well I think that says it all! When one of the top current broods(if not the top) is not open for discussion then what is the point of a greyhound forum?

I have always considered debate to require conflict of views and although some can go too far, that is where the art of moderation comes in. I realise also that the site is trying to avoid self promotion of dogs/litters and the resulting biased/spam posts, but common sense must be applied as well. In another forum I frequent there is a public thread dedicated to reporting posts that users feel cross the lines and allows moderators to explain their actions along with the merits of the complaint, for all to see and(should they wish) comment on.
EXTERNAL LINK which if nothing else, gives a public indication why users/posts have disappeared

Absolutely agree with last two posts as I have seen numerous posts that simply disappear into thin air - there is not even an entry left to say 'Post Removed' and as a result the whole subject being debated often makes no sense at all. This is such a shame as there are still many people passionate about greyhounds in the UK and this site was the best forum for discussion.

Steve Colin Chris Barry
Fair suck of the Sav boys
I know a few things about friendly banter and personal attacks and abuse of the written word on GD
I have had my fair share of posts removed over the years and its a hard job for the admins when people take it to a personal level so in all fairness many posts have to be taken down and that's the way it rolls

GD has been around for years and nothing compares to it so why not be thankful we all have a site unmatched in any other form of racing around the world
GD uses the old coding and believe it or not all of this Data has been manually entered in over the years and there has been many volunteers spending hours of their time
Do you guys seriously think Tony G and the team make money from this site when in fact they almost lose money each year .

What would happen to the WORLDWIDE greyhound racing if Greyhound Data was to CLOSE down and wipe out millions of pedigrees .

I think GD has been our Saviors the World over and every person in every Country around the World Uses this site for its valuable knowledge about the greyhound breed.

Maybe one of you guys would like to offer some free time to help keep up to date with Nottingham and Sheffield dogs ..
Steve .

Cheers boys and remember without Greyhound Data we have nothing .

im still here john, but when iv'e nothing positive to say I would rather keep quite.but I will just say my bit about this site so here goes. I did like putting up my pups breeding when bitch whelped ,how many what colour how many dogs bitches ect,but any pups whelped don't exist until they actually have a race then they are loaded onto the site automatically, unless you are a fully paid up member then you can input info which at the time I objected to having to pay for info I was putting into the site.so there you go john im still here with a opinion lol lets see if this post stays up.

Hi John. As they say in Ireland "I am still above ground!" I think we have known each other since the days of Slough Greyhounds and although we don't always agree have remained friends. These days I don't often post on GD or even read the forum as it has become so bland. One dare not write anything controversial as it will be removed. In my case I have had 7 postings removed mostly regarding cheating of so called top trainers the results of which are mostly ignored by the IGB, given a slap on the wrist or delayed so long that any dog that failed a drug test will have retired, probably to stud if somehow it managed to win a group one race. I still have 19 dogs aged between 12 months to 12 years old, mostly retired, but I am disappointed that the authorities in Ireland have never managed to get the sport squeaky clean. I expect this posting will be removed as well. Best wishes John.
