and when you read the full report , they recommend a further 3 tracks to close at end of 2022. That will leave only 12 Greyhound Tracks in Republic of Ireland .

How much did the IGB pay the indecon consultants to tell us what we knew already about fallen attendances being the main factor? Is there anything in the report suggesting the IGB have sat back for years when there has been nothing but bad publicity on social media about the welfare of greyhounds by a minority. And then done nothing to show the public that this wasn't the case. Only this year since the programme was aired they have started to do anything ( or so they say ) the phrase that comes to mind is 'too little to late'

I think it's crazy closing tracks igb closed Haroldscross when it was making money now it's sitting in ruins.still haven't felt a penny from the sale when is the question going to be asked of staff and management of the tracks in question why they can't manage to get people in the door no promotion of this industry is being done by any track in my opinion staff seem to be happy collecting a wage and let it all go to shit you would never closes a shop if the management were not doing there job you would put the right people in place to move forward

I see Newbridge to Shelbourne travel time is listed at 50 minutes. Thats correct if you travel at 3am in the morning. It takes an hour to get to Shelbourne from Newlands Cross in the 6PM traffic especially in winter. So to be factually correct in the context of going racing the travel time is 1 hour 50 minutes.

Agree with everything Patrick. its agreed that breeding is in decline and in trouble as so many people not breeding this year and the powers that be take away the breeding incentives, it beggers belief.

I presume the Youghal to Cork at busy traffic time is a work of fiction also.

This seems to be the core of the current problems?
I am not sure of the legal positions, but maybe it would be feasible to set up some form of Cooperative around the tracks being refused funding? This would by its very nature involve the greyhound community and properly run, keep overheads to a minimum whilst providing an investment resource.
Just floating(maybe fanciful) ideas

The igb has 850 people employed over 15 stadia in a statement made on their strategic plan 2018-2022 thats 54 people per track i dont no what the rest of you think but that's a he'll of a lot of wages to be paid out every week for track personal and there bearly keeping their heads above water before they close any tracks should take a look at the productivity of the people that are involved in getting costumers through the turnstiles

The executive of the IGB have no idea how many is employed within the greyhound sector, its like the building sites years ago, full of dead men, we have listened for years that over 10,000 people are directly & indirectly employed, a total load of nonsense, this national Dysfunctional outfit are not fit for purpose any longer, they are a laughing stock for the entire Country & beyond. This Industry is now in a state of collapse, the CEO has proven to all that he does not have the proper skills to turn this Industry around, he squanders 125.000 on one report which tells us about the state of our tracks and the financial situation those tracks are in, this report should have been carried out and completed by our in house detectives and not outsourced. We hear of employee settlements with confidentiality clauses {WHY}? Lately a high court case against the IGB was taken, {WHY}? there wont be a court case Just get out the cheque book and get rid of the problem typical IGB style. IGB you are a total disgrace to all involved in greyhounds.JMHO

What about the northern owners and breeders how many of them will stay in greyhound racing now that the igb have closed lifford and Longford it would be interesting to know how many dogs are registered up north one time lifford was second best track in Ireland before it was destroyed by the muppets of the igb
