Good Juan...
WOW,I can't remember when a greyhound produced an absolutely amazingly, mind boggling burst of acceleration half down the home straight at Wenty Saturday night & ran away from them to win..i still can't believe what i saw, totally gobsmacked!!,if this bloke isn't Australia's # 1 stayer within 12 mths, then i will ...well ,never predict about the future of a greyhound again ,lol.

Unfortunately i can't put up the replay, but fair dinkum, boy, this dog is pretty special.

Yeah he certainly has Mal,considering his staying potential & being a young dog,the Group & Listed staying races all over Australia over the next 12 months are beckoning, the $120,000 paid, could be a bargain price ?Don't forget, that was his first run back after a short let up,so he should only get better one would think, how much better...time will tell

Even the Sports Editor at Channel 7 was impressed, they showed his win on their Sports segment tonight.it was great to see a positive story on our industry, but more importantly, exposure on free to air tv.
Well done Channel 7 & Mel McLaughlin for presenting it with genuine excitement & her little subway at the end," Juan won one ".

Thank You Channel 7 & Thanks also Good Juan for that blood pumping finishing burst of acceleration. Best of luck to all concerned & Juan's racing & probable stud career.

He looks like a very exciting pup but 120 gees.....his racing style is too clumsy for that type of cash.
Good luck to the owners.

The dog ran 24.04 ptp in the race yesterday. Grp dog Double Twist used to go 24.08/24.09 but that was on the old Wenty track before they made adjustments to the bends.

I think from memory this trk is no more than .10 faster ptp over the 520m trip. So Good Juan is up there with what the top Grp dogs run ptp over the 520m trip at Wenty.

You got a good eye for a top dog Daryl, my query is that he may be too brilliant to run those special type times over the 700 trip. I suppose he was legless early yesterday so he might prove me wrong. Well called.

He's only 2.5 yoa Mal so he may well run those seriously fast times over the 700m trip......TR at Wenty is 41.38 so Daryl may well be right.

Normally what happens if they run those extremely fast sectionals over the 500m is that they struggle to be really dominant and just as good sectionally over the 700m......BUT being very very ordinary early over the 500m may mean that he can do it over the 700m too.

The next 12 months is going to be a very interesting watch, for me anyway.

Spot on Ryan,
Also, lets not forget, that top class stayers run time over 500,sub 30's,& as you also pointed out,he is a young dog on the way up & another few points in his favour are that he isn't a hard seasoned stayer yet,he has plenty of time for natural improvement- how much time will tell,& lets not forget who trains him as well.
Your'e comment re me having a " good eye for a dog ",took me way back in time mate,i was at a mentor of mine at the time,Ted Curran at Solar Lodge,& i saw this beatifully conformed black dog,he was a magnificent type,so without knowing a thing about this dog ,i turned to Ted & asked his breeding.Ted turned to me & said,he 's by Brother Fox x Miss Dusty Lee,he then looked at me & said," gee you have a good eye for a good one Daryl...that dog is Gun Law Osti !!.He was at Solar Lodge having a short break very early in his racing career,& even though i was friends of his trainer,Betty Stubljar at the time,i had no idea who he was until Ted told me lol.
So i guess mate, maybe that is just a lucky trait about me,i only wish i could find one like him for myself, lol.

If he can go a sub 25.50 ptp over the 720m at Wenty that'd be pretty convincing that he's top Grp class over the 500m & 700m Darryl. Not too many dogs can do that. Tornado went 25.28 ptp when it ran the TR.

Yeah i agree Ryan,at least Juan has a couple of fans in us,looking forward to his staying progress over the next 12 months.Juan & others like him give much needed hope for the future of,not only staying races, but very strong 500 + dogs in general.

Well he went 41.96 at Wenty the other night and was 8 lens behind the leader at the winning post the first time so his ptp works out at 25.32 and you can take off another 0.09 as that's what i estimated he lost negotiating his way through 2 dogs at around about the 700m boxes .

Don't need to wait any longer you were right Daryl, he's already a superstar.

G'day Ryan, i didn't want to bring up his outstanding gallop on Saturday night myself,it always best to be humble & have a wry smile to yourself, rather than make a statement about an opinion. As you duly noted as well mate, the way he he around & under dogs in that race, showed how much track sense Juan has,a very intelligent dog as well,he is exactly what epitomises, dare i say it,a superstar in the making without doubt.
Thanks for the "wrap " mate & stay safe.
PS,i think "Ricky" can bounce back tomorrow night mate,( i dont think he backed up from the Wed nights race on Sat ),he should find the lead early & prove hard to beat, but,in saying that,he needs to begin on terms with them.
