Any chance this competition will be up and running before the Easter Egg?

Hi Sandro. We need a minimum of 60 starters for me too continue running the comp as stated at the beginning of the thread. We're lucky to have half that amount so I'm going to opt out after trying for the last 2 month. If somebody else would like to take over then now is the time to put your hand up.
I thank everybody for their kind words & support.
Cheers, Steve.

I thought last year's contest was fun and very well managed with great prizes.
The expectation of having 60 players with a $50 buy in for this year was an admirable goal but challenging to obtain.
Still with 15 prizes made available and 25 players Willing to play for a fee ...$1250 would make a sizeable Prize pool.
I do not know of any known internet contest with such a diverse and talented group of handicappers with such possible pre contest resources.
In the States most contests have a $100 or $200 weekly prize broken down by top 3 players scores. Not my place but I thought I would list this information.

Yes I agree, 25 paid members should make a very fun competition still. Come on Steve mate, set it up and someone set a trust fund.

25 people and what do the sponsors get back ? hmmm they were kind enough to donate prizes they deserve better its not worth steves time (that he donated ) I dont blame him for not wanting to continue with such a small number participating i enjoyed the comp for what it was last year didnt care if i won a prize or not unfortunately cant afford the $50 buy in this year

Fair points all the way around. I certainly did not mean to disrespect Steve or the outstanding sponsers.
The enjoyment of the contest often Can be diminished with money involved. I would compete for free.

Steve you've done a great job & from what you have described it takes quite a few hours of your time each week. Would it make a big difference in your time if we just used 1 race each week (say the FFA or main race at WP) & only a set amount of points (say 5) were awarded to winners only.No penalties for forgetting. No late entries. Maybe drop the entry to $20 so more come on board.

You don't have to be Einstein to work out that the $$$$$ turned a lot off, go back too "NO MONEY INVOLVED" and they will come !!!

And Mark, Members who quit throughout the year because they weren't winning, turned me off too.
I agreed to the running of the comp but got no commitment from those that decided to QUIT. Why?... Because they had contributed nothing & had nothing to lose. Simple.
Imagine if I had done that mid-comp! Fair-dinkum. I could have quit too at any time, but I stuck to my guns because I said I would.
I don't mind running the comp but for me to stay I need 60 members that are prepared to stay from start to finish, instead of having a cry & leaving because they're not carrying the torch. I understand that some members can't afford the 50 bucks so maybe that's it.
But for "Heavens to Betsy", our sport is built on PUNTING so why can't we get 100 players? I don't get it.
$50 x 100 members = $5000 pool + donations.
$100 for the leader of each month (that's double your money back, unlimited) = $1000
Leaves $4000 for the end of year pool.
But with limited starters, it's not worth the effort.
Regards, Steve

Hi Rich, it does not look like running at the moment. Unfortunately we did not reach the number Steve was after.
Thank you Steve for all the time and effort you put in mate.
I will keep the thread going for another week and see if any of our members would like to run the competition.

Actually I'm happy with either option but with less prizes donated this year the money option (+ donated prizes) seems the best solution. It's a shame more people haven't shown interest but thems the breaks. Why don't you start another topic calling for interest in a non monetary tipping comp and we'll see how we go. After all you seem to have all the answers!
