So how did Tortani Kennels Start?

I commenced owning and training dogs in 1978 after purchasing two pups from my girlfriends (now wife) uncle and from there became hooked.

Over the next 20 or so years I had the occasional dog but mainly kept my team down to about 4 dogs. I was a committee member and promotions officer on the Whyalla greyhound Club for five years from 1978-83. I then moved to Port Augusta for work and was on that Clubs committee and also promotions officer for the years 1983-88 when i moved to Adelaide.

Due to work commitments for the next 13 years we had a few dogs but not on a big scale until we sold our business at Two Wells in 2001 when we purchased this property and named it Tortani Kennels.

Tortani name came from a greyhound that we had some 20 years ago who only broke in very average but continued to improve and showed great determination to win 14 races.

Tortani Kennels is property at Lewiston, South Australia - 1 hour north of Adelaide - of 2.5acres. Licenced for 35 dogs but has over 50 brick kennels and 12 runs.

The main kennel block has kitchen etc and also ducted airconditioning for summer comfort.

We have two 130m runs for the exercise of dogs and also a bull ring, Walking machine and hydrobath and other various machines for treatment of injuries.

At Tortani Kennels we have for spelling and pre-trainers:
-16 indoor racing kennels
-16 outdoor kennels

Our 25 plus years of experience, excellent reputation and success is backed up by professional dog handling plus:
- Large Property of 2.5acres.
- Licenced for 35 dogs but has over 50 brick kennels and 12 runs.

You can be assured we only provide the best of diets and of course Winning Edge Greyhound Kibble.

Our numbers are smaller than other kennels therefore we are able to give each greyhound plenty of love, care and attention. Your greyhound will always receive the best treatment and recovery necessary.

We do also rear a few pups, but these are mainly for our racing clients.
